We need real accountability on pipeline safety now - before it's too late!
Vermont Gas has been cited for serious safety violations related to pipeline construction happening close to high-voltage electrical transmission lines. The “probable violations” found by the Public Service Board indicates the pipe being laid has been subject to electrical interference -- which causes corrosion and can lead to the accidents we’re seeing around the country.
Despite the risks involved, the PSB has given Vermont Gas multiple extensions to address the citations and problems on their worksite. They’re seeking only a low level fine, and want to settle the matter with Vermont Gas behind closed doors.
Too much is at stake to let that happen. Please, join us in calling on the Federal Department of Transportation Pipeline Safety and Hazardous Material Administration to step in and investigate whether Vermont is meeting its obligation to enforce minimum federal pipeline safety standards.
